Hot Air Balloons and Stories - Sixth Grade

Katy
Once upon a time in science class, in June, we built hot air balloons and launched them. I worked with Austin. We made our way thorough the steps of gluing, measuring, marking, cutting and assembling, until our balloon was easy to launch. On June 11, the day after we competed the balloon, the whole class went out to test the balloons.
Once the chimney was heated, we put our balloon over the chimney, let it if late, and released it. It flew...and flew with the wind....and disappeared into the woods.
Mrs. Collins sent Austin and I to look for the balloon. We couldn't find it in the trees, but just when I was about to give up, I spotted something colorful on top of a stick on the stream bank-our balloon. We carried it out of the woods and ran happily across the field. We had to fix a few holes later on, but our balloon was a success. I was happy for the other successful balloons, and I felt bad for the groups that lost theirs.
After a game of blob tag, we gathered everything and went back to the science lab...and that's where this story came to life.  ~The End~

Once upon a time, Kymberly and I made a hot air balloon in science class. We made the balloon out of tissue paper. We measured, cut and glued.
One week later, the hot air ballon was finished. We went out and launched our balloon into the sky. About 30 seconds after the launch our balloon landed I a tree. We were sad :-(   We had worked so hard on that balloon and it landed on a tree on huge first launch!
Kym and I helped others with their launches.

Once upon a time in science class the 6th grade made hot air balloons. My partner was Lauren,we had vivid colors. Our measurements were accurate, our seams were closed. When we launched our ballon it went so high, but it never hit a tree. We launched higher every time.

Once upon a time I made a balloon. My partners Katy and I choose Italy colors and France and a little purple.
Ours got stuck in a tree, then fell. Then 3 othes went, also one that landed in poison ivy, I got it. Now my leg itches.
Also, the end of a dynasty, Ballooney, his last launch, he fell into a tree.
Anyway #1, he is a champion, he is, a balloon, he is.

Once upon a time in science class, we made hot air balloons. My partner was Savannah. She was a really great partner!
Our hot air balloon was the most pretty hot air balloon I ever saw! We made every measurement the best and glued every seam that re-.opened.
After a few science classes, once everyone's was complete, we decided to go outside in the soccer field and launch our hot air balloons.
Our hot air balloon went the farthest, more than everyone else's hot air balloons. Savannah and I won first place!

Happy Summer Vacation

Hello All,

It is hard to believe that we are in the second week of Summer Vacation already. It has been great, though hot, weather wise and the thunderstorms yesterday and today brought us some much needed rain.

If you are in town, check out the tree that is down in front of St. Lawrence Church, they were lucky that it just missed the roof of the church. Sad to see such a beautiful tree go down in a storm.

For those wondering, I will be keeping this blog active and occasionally updating it with photos that I've taken of the kids in my Villa Math and Science classes over the past two years. I've been going though my file of photos and am amazed at how much the kids accomplished with all of their great projects and adventures.

I have several videos that I am still working on, I will post them to a private YouTube or Vimeo site with a link from here when I am finished.

Take care and enjoy the summer!!!
