Hand Prosthesis progress

We have had some amazing progress in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades this week, as students worked on their hand prosthesis projects.

We saw some great problem solving skills and interesting use of materials found at home in junk drawers or closets.

Please continue to hunt for more recyclable or re-usable items that can be made into projects in science class.

Alex modifying some dowels and corn skewers.

Max, using a plastic yogurt container and tongue depressors, with a bit of duct tape.

Jerome and Austin investigating the materials to find a design that works.

Katy and Ava working on finger parts with wires and putty.

Julianna and Jessica test how their cord will work.

Sarah and Charli-Rei show their hand in action.

Jacob and Hunter modify the Lego hand to work without the motor.

Savannah and Anna were able to stack cans with their hand prosthesis.

How the body responds... hands (and head) on activity

When Students are asked to think about how the body responds while they balance books on their heads....

Someone will always ask "Well, Mrs C, how many books can YOU balance on your head?"

The answer this week is, 10.
