7th Grade Math Syllabus - Fall 2013

This year you will have the opportunity to work at your own pace.
Below is the list of assignments for the first Trimester

*You will be asked to complete many projects in Math this year, to show what you have learned. To create you projects your only limitation is your imagination.  Some potential project materials are:
Computer programs; Scratch, Snap and others
MakeyMakey electronic boards
Video, stop action video, animation, claymation, etc
Any other materials that you can use to make something with may be used for your projects   provided that you can transport them into and out of the school building safely.
Recyclable materials are strongly recommended.
Your project does not have to be electronic or computer based, it can be anything out of your imagination including songs, music and poems.
You must see me before you start a project, and all of your assignments prior to the project must be complete.

Course requirements:

Assignments:
You should complete a minimum of two assignment sections per week, including the quiz
All assignments must be successfully completed for each section, before you take the quiz.
Show Your Work for each problem if you want credit for the assignment. I will demonstrate my expectations.
You must receive a passing score on the quiz in order to move on to the next section.
There are a few sections that say ‘see me’ before you begin the section, you must see me to learn the method that I wish you to use, or you will need to repeat the exercises using the preferred method. Better to do it right the first time.

Create projects:
All projects must be completed within 5 days of when you begin, or when I assign them, and you must complete the section project before moving on to the next section.
You will be allowed to work on your projects in class, quietly. Bring all of the materials that you will need, for the project, with you to each class. I have only a limited supply of materials.
Use as much recyclable material as possible.
You may team up with other students and work in groups to complete a project, all group participants will receive the same score.
You will be expected to share your ideas with your classmates, we learn best what we teach others.
