6th Grade - Fresh Water Projects

Katy and Ava show how wells work within a watershed.

This group had a great idea of showing the concept of how water sticks together, by using magnets, paper lips and bobby pins.

Kymberly, Sarah and Charli, show how their lake flows into a marsh by way of a waterfall.

6th Grade Exponents Projects

Students were asked to answer the question:
If you earned an allowance for a month, and on the first day recieved a penny, then the next day and for thirty days your amount doubled everyday, how much money would you have on the 30th of the month?

Below are photos of the work as it progressed and some of the finished products.

All students created some amazing examples of how exponents work!!

Solving equations notes

For students who are working on the solving equations section, here are the notes from the lesson.

Please set up each of your equations as I demonstrated in class.

Do as much as you can, skip over the problems you are having trouble with and see me on Monday.

Remember, if you need help solving, the odd answers are in the book to help you.

Please read - Pearson Success Net update and notice

Several students and parents have emailed me or called concerning the Pearson online text that we are trying this Fall. Since so many students are having trouble with they system, either compatibility with their networks, printing or saving we will stop using it NOW!

All students who have completed sections of chapter one will receive full credit for doing so, all other students will receive an extension on the sections until the workbooks arrive, or we complete the section in class.

To be fair to all of the kids, I have asked for, and received, permission to order the workbook texts that are the print version of the same materials. Until the workbooks arrive we will be completing the reading assignments during our class periods, using the SmartBoard, and writing answers in student binders.

This will slow things down a bit related to our lab work, but with luck the workbooks will arrive quickly and we can pick up the pace with more hands on labs.

Please contact me either by leaving a comment here or emailing me directly with any concerns that you may have on this issue.
